This is a picture of my friend Ava and I. Ava is on the left. She is in 7th grade and has been in treatment for an eating disorder twice. She will be discharging next week. Ava self harms, a lot. She didn’t self harm at all this week for me since it was my birthday week. I made a deal with Ava. If this picture of her (this stunning little girl) gets 1000 notes, she will not self injure any more. She swore this to me, and she is not one to break promises. Please, please help me with this. Like it/reblog it/do whatever you can. No 7th grader deserves to have cuts all the way up their arms and thighs. Keep her in your prayers :)
Edit: She does not have a tumblr, I will show this post to her once it gets the notes. Please help <3
This is so sad.

AFTER: AGE 29 HEIGHT 5’6” WEIGHT 125 lbs BODY FAT 18%

“The major change for me, though, was diet. Gone was the processed, fatty, sugary, preservative-filled crap.”

Working out is necessary to obtain the shape you want. But as you see, DIET IS KEY! :)

I’ve lost about 60 lbs. It’s been a slow, gradual weight loss. The picture on the left is when I was 11/12. The picture on the right was taken a week ago, I’m now 20. I can’t believe I used to wear a 24 in woman’s jeans and a 2/3X shirt. Now I wear a small shirt and 8/9 jean size. Keeps me motivated to keep going! :)

Love the 5’ 2 1/2”. I’m 5’ 1 1/8”. Great job on your weight loss. You look so terrific!!

Blackberries, Strawberries and Mangos…..oh my!

1 C blackberries; 1.5 C strawberries; 1 C mango. That’s a lot of fruit for 257 calories. A piece of toast (look at the seeds on the crust….it’s not called “Dave’s killer bread” for nothin’….so good) with 1 Tablespoon of almond butter completed breakfast for a total of 422 calories.

BLACKBERRY & STRAWBERRY FUN FACTS:

*Strawberries were used as a medicinal herb in the 13th Century in Rome.

*Strawberries have a museum dedicated to them in Belgium!

*Strawberries are a member of the rose family.

*Strawberries are the National Symbol of the Zeta Tau Alpha women’s fraternity. Legend has it that a secret admirer sent them to one of their founding members, so one of their first socials was a strawberry social!!

*Strawberries for headaches??? They contain natural salicylates, an ingredient that’s found in aspirin!

*The first important American variety, the Hovey, was grown in 1834 in Massachusetts.

*In Roman times, the strawberry was valued for its therapeutic properties.

*Blackberries are very high in Vitamin C and fiber!

*Have you ever eaten a double strawberry? Legend holds that if you break it in half and share it with a member of the opposite sex, you will soon fall in love with each other.

*Strawberries are vital for super skin! They contain vitamin C, which helps keep skin firm and smooth. Strawberries also contain Vitamin A, which is vital to healthy hair and skin.

*Blackberries and strawberries are very high in ellagic acid which is an antioxidant that acts as a scavenger to help make potential cancer-causing chemicals inactive. Ellagic Acid reduces the genetic damage caused by carcinogens like tobacco smoke and air pollution. They also contain other antioxidants that help lower cholesterol and ward off cardiovascular disease.

*Processing, such as cooking and freezing berries do not affect the phytochemical properties that they contain! This means that value-added products, such as our nectars, ciders, & jams etc… are still high in the healthy stuff!!!

*Blackberries are effective in the treatment of stomach problems, such as nausea, so we have given samples to chemotherapy patients to try. Some of these patients have come back and bought the nectar by the case, so there must be something to it!

*Blackberries are one of the few fruits that contain heart-protective Vitamin E. Berries also strengthen blood vessels , protecting eyesight and reducing heart disease and risk!

*Strawberries and Blackberries are fat free!

*Blackberries and Strawberries contain the highest levels of phytoestrogens, which have a possible roll in prevention of breast & cervical cancer.

*Some of the antioxidants in berries help fight the aging process! Blackberries are high in anthocyanins, which give them their color. These specific antioxidants help fight off the process of aging by fighting off the diseases associated with old age. Think about a metal saw rusting due to oxidation, the body deteriorates due to the effects of oxidation.

MANGO FUN FACTS:

* Mango seeds traveled with humans from Asia to the Middle East, East Africa and South America beginning around 300 or 400 A.D.

* The paisley pattern, developed in India, is based on the shape of a mango

* The mango is a symbol of love in India, and a basket of mangos is considered a gesture of friendship

* Legend says that Buddha meditated under the cool shade of a mango tree

*Mangos are related to cashews and pistachios

*A mango tree can grow as tall as 100 feet

*The bark, leaves, skin and pit of the mango have been used in folk remedies for centuries

*A one cup serving of mangos is just 100 calories

*Mangos provide 100% of your daily vitamin C, 35% of your daily vitamin A and 12% of your daily fiber
